BACKGROUND WORKSHOPS
A. Workshop Refuse the Rent Increase
The action campaign We Refuse the Rent Increase is a campaign built for and by active tenants, volunteers and activists, who are fed up with the years of rent increases and demand multi-year rent freezes, to make and keep housing affordable again. In this workshop we will take a closer look at our working method and action method and what you, as a refusal of the rent increase, can do to make this action a success. More info: https://wijweigerendehuurverhoging.nl/
B. Workshop Not for Sale
Every week this action group in Amsterdam organizes a flash campaign at a social rental home that is put up for sale by a housing corporation. How do you find out which properties are going on sale and how do you organize these promotions in your own city? More info: https://niettekoop.org/
C. Workshop Stop Evictions and Flex
Together with the BPW, you can claim your right of residence as an individual or collectively. They do this by organizing residents into solidarity networks and offering substantive, moral, legal and organizational support. More info: https://bondprecairewoonvormen.nl/
D. Civil disobedience workshop
Can we take the housing struggle to a higher level through mass ('civil') disobedience actions? What would that look like? How do we get different groups moving in the same direction and create structures that new people can join? What can we learn from other campaigns by, for example, the climate movement (Extintion Rebellion, Code Rood, Ende Gelände)? This workshop is about inspiring organizational models and movement building strategies.
