Claim your right of residence meeting | Utrecht

Message via Woonprotest Utrecht | It has now been almost two years since we demonstrated en masse on the Jaarbeursplein for our right to live. It was the start of Woonprotest Utrecht. The housing shortage has gotten completely out of hand and now politicians finally seem to be waking up a bit. The change comes in very small steps. Two years later, a number of things have changed, for example the landlord levy has been abolished and Utrecht has a vacancy ordinance.

Call from the organization behind Residential protest Utrecht:

It's not nearly enough. We are still dealing with a 'housing market', the supply of social housing is still declining, rents continue to rise every year, slumlords continue to charge exorbitant prices, 'flexible housing' creates permanent uncertainty, squatters are forcibly evicted and still live there. always too many people in unacceptably bad housing.

There is no real political will. It's time for action!

We need your help. On January 20, we organize a day for residents, action groups and other interested parties under the motto “Claim your Housing Rights”.
We will exchange ideas and discuss strategies. We do this with panels, workshops and discussions on, among other things, the democratization of housing associations and standing up for tenants' rights.

So come to the Kargadoor in Utrecht on Saturday, January 20 at 1:00 PM.

Kargadoor, Oudegracht 36 Utrecht

Entrance is free. Please let us know if you plan to come. Registration is not mandatory, but it is useful for us to be able to estimate the turnout. You can register via the Woonprotest Utrecht website.

Are you a member of a residents' group, action and/or political organization or is there something else that may be of interest to us? Then write a comment in the 'comments' field.
