A large part of the problem lies in the fact that about half of Nijmegen&#039;s students rent in an unregulated private sector where slum landlords can do their own thing. International students, who are virtually excluded from this private sector due to discrimination, are also attracted to Radboud and HAN only to be made structurally homeless through SSH&amp;&#039;s &#039;short-stay&#039; contracts. We demand the abolition of these temporary contracts, the expansion of social housing, the provision of emergency shelter and an approach to slum landlords!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So come to Kelfkensbos on March 9 at 4:00 PM to watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentenvakbondakku.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AKKU<\/a> student housing protest to make your voice heard and to force the municipality, the educational institutions and SSH&amp; to take action!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With a national shortage of 26,500 student homes and the prognosis that this number will double in the next 8 years, there is an extreme housing crisis for students in the Netherlands.
